The AGA Research Foundation provides funding to the talented investigators working to identify new treatments and diagnostics for patients with GI conditions. By investing in research today, we're ensuring better patient care tomorrow.
If not for committed researchers, the biologics, anti-TNFs, and direct-acting antivirals that we rely on to treat patients would not exist.
Help the AGA build a community of investigators through the AGA Research Foundation.
Donations to the AGA Research Foundation helped AGA Pilot Research Award Recipient, Sara Di Rienzi, PhD, conduct research that will help to advance our understanding of the intestinal microbiome. The interactions between the gut and the body have been recognized for millennia as critical for health. Investigations into the role of the intestinal microbiome on health provide a new way to interrogate these interactions and suggest novel ways to deliver therapeutic control over health from the gut. Such research pursuits, however, are inherently risky both for securing funding and for making career transitions.
